Barking Mad!

A man has been lectured by firefighters for a silly act of bravery when he decided to rescue his drowning dog from a frozen river.

Just over a week ago The River Stour inEssexwas frozen over following some freezing weather. The man’s dog was trapped on the ice covering the lake and could not get back to his owner.

In a panic, the man took off his clothes and started to crawl across the ice to rescue his dog. According to an eyewitness the man fell into the water after crawling over thin ice. Emerging from the ice, the man and his dog finally came to dry land.

An Essex fire spokesman said to CBBC, “It was extremely dangerous”. Another person who passed by said, ”We couldn’t believe what we were seeing. He stripped down to his pants and started crawling across the ice.” He added, “He fell in but managed to get hold of the dog and put it on the ice.”

After the man had saved the animal the fire brigade told the man off for putting his life in danger. Would you do the same if it was your dog or pet? Would you put your life in danger?

What an amazing article! I think it’s DEFINITELY NOT SILLY for saving his dog, nothing wrong with that. But he was horrendously stupid/silly taking off his clothes, actually TAKING OFF HIS CLOTHES, and the water temperature is above freezing.
